1.0.12 beta 22
November 6, 2026
- Frames from Lightroom open with the crop Lightroom shows. Upright, lens corrections, and straightening all carry through.
- Camera Raw's look carries over on more frames.
- Return presses the highlighted button in a question, About Spot Tone, and Help.
- Detect is faster on frames from Lightroom.
- Switching frames no longer freezes the window. The frame shows at once while it opens.
- Cancel Round Trip closes the frames from Lightroom without sending anything back. Your session comes back. It sits beside Save & Return and in the File menu.
- The navigator shows the cropped picture, turned as the frame is.
- Straightened frames show straightened in the filmstrip.
- Frames from Lightroom show Lightroom's picture in the filmstrip until they open.
- The tour has a step for the Hot Folder.
- Detect stays on the graphics card after a quick quit.
- The sample scan shows once in the filmstrip.
1.0.12 beta 20
November 5, 2026
- Detect finds more small specks on scans wider than 4,400 px. Settings ▸ Detect has a switch for the extra pass.
- Straighten a frame. Turn the crop by dragging just outside a corner, or press A and draw along something that should be level.
- Frames that need repairing again get a red badge. There is also a chip in the status bar and a filter in the filmstrip.
- The Hot Folder can turn frames upright by their faces and save QC overlays.
- Zooming out keeps the picture in view.
- The area outside a crop takes the Workspace Background color at once.
- Return moves the Getting Started tour on. The tour names every tool.
- Tone value boxes take Tab, Shift+Tab, and the arrow keys. Each section's Reset grays out with nothing to reset.
- Screen readers name the filmstrip, tools, and controls. Tab reaches the filmstrip.
- The privacy notice is updated. Install records now note the city the connection reports.
1.0.12 beta 19
November 4, 2026
- Detect catches thin hairs on large scans.
- The area outside a crop stays clean, with no stray lines or brush strokes.
- Auto Clean starts a new frame at the Sensitivity in Settings.
1.0.12 beta 18
November 4, 2026
- Drag the Settings title to move it; beta 17 said so, and it did not.
- The status line says what is happening while a raw frame changes between Negative and Positive.
- The Save & Return progress bar is smaller and sits at the right.
1.0.12 beta 17
November 4, 2026
- Added a Negative or Positive choice for raw frames, so a slide or a print shows as it is.
- Detect on a repaired frame looks at the original scan, so it no longer misses what the repair covered.
- Drag the Settings title to move it.
- The brush draws in the same color as the marks.
1.0.12 beta 16
November 4, 2026
- Fixed frames sent from Lightroom landing in the filmstrip without opening or offering Save & Return.
- Running Clean DNG again on a frame takes Lightroom’s current look.
- The title bar shows Spot Tone’s icon.
1.0.12 beta 15
November 4, 2026
- The Photoshop script runs on Windows: File › Scripts › SpotTone sends the open document to Spot Tone, and Save & Return (Ctrl+S) writes the cleaned picture back and opens it in Photoshop, ready to drag onto your original as a layer. The installer puts the script in place.
- A frame Capture One or Lightroom hands over with Edit With or Edit In gets Save & Return without the plug-in; the file they rendered is replaced in place and the editor comes forward.
- The export bar shows Save & Return for a frame an editor handed over, with Export a Separate Copy beside it.
- Export progress shows in the export bar, and a raw export uses Lightroom’s current crop.
- Repairs saved to a DNG with a Lightroom look no longer come out speckled.
- The installer adds the Windows App Runtime parts some PCs were missing, and a failed start now says so instead of showing nothing.
- Fixed a crash at launch on some PCs when a crash report was waiting to be sent.
- The Save In and format menus in the export panel switch between their options and show the one selected.
1.0.12 beta 14
November 4, 2026
- The Lightroom plug-in works on Windows: Clean in Spot Tone, Clean DNG in Spot Tone, and Auto Clean DNG in Spot Tone under Library › Plug-in Extras. The installer puts it in place.
- Clean DNG in Spot Tone opens the frame with Lightroom’s current crop, tone, and sharpening, finds the dust Lightroom’s render shows, and places the crop box where Lightroom’s picture lands.
- Save & Return (Ctrl+S) writes the cleaned copy stacked above the original and brings Lightroom forward; with several frames selected it returns all of them, and the filmstrip marks the ones that have gone back.
- Running Clean DNG again on a frame takes Lightroom’s current settings; brush strokes and examined film are kept, and a frame with heals keeps its picture until you choose Reset Image.
- When every handed-over frame is back, Spot Tone returns to the frames you had open, or closes if Lightroom launched it.
- Auto Clean DNG in Spot Tone cleans and returns frames without waiting; frames that look wrong stay open for review.
- Settings gains Close after Save Back and Auto-clean round trips.
- A DNG that is already a positive, such as a slide, opens as one.
- A lossy or JPEG XL DNG is refused with the way around it: it needs to be a lossless DNG.
- If a launch never finishes, the next one starts safely: models on the processor, no tour, and a note in the status line.
- Quitting no longer leaves a crash report behind on some PCs.
1.0.12 beta 13
November 3, 2026
- The Getting Started tour and the sample scan, as on the Mac.
- Export from the menu or the keys never overwrites a file.
- Spot Tone remembers its window, tool, and settings between launches the way the Mac does.
- The Auto overlay has its own color, and crop presets follow the frame’s orientation, with Custom, Flip, and Frame whole.
- Full screen, Sync N, and the Mac’s tooltips.
- Out-of-date notices match the Mac’s, Revert is live right after a repair, and no mark count is shown before a detection.
- Questions name their action, each filmstrip frame keeps its own shape, and the Tone card says what it holds.
- Auto-Rotate undoes per frame, and its result stays until you dismiss it.
- A cleaned camera-scan DNG is written as a new numbered copy each time, never over an earlier one.
- A camera-scan DNG with a straightened crop keeps its repairs inside that crop.
1.0.12 beta 12
November 2, 2026
- Spot Tone and its installer are signed by Cary Norton, LLC.
- Zoom In and Zoom Out step through the same zoom levels as the Mac.
- Ctrl+Backspace removes the selected frames from the list.
- Enter presses a question’s default button, and Esc no longer cancels a running job.
- Shift+F2 turns the frames shown on screen, and Ctrl+R while a job runs says so instead of starting another.
- Detect’s done line counts marks the way the Mac does.
- A frame’s menu offers Show Exported Repair in File Explorer once you have exported it, and Open Recent lists date and title.
- The edge of a camera-scan DNG no longer smears into the picture.
- Help covers Auto-Rotate, Overwrite Mode, Remove Color Cast, Split Toning, the Vectorscope, large scans, contributing, and model updates.
- A Hot Folder chip’s list stays open while frames land, until you close it.
- Notices in the status bar stay until you click them.
- A camera-scan DNG takes Lightroom’s look more reliably, including when its preview is stored sideways.
- Esc stops a running heal between its steps, not only during the fill.
- Ctrl+Alt+R commits the selected frames for training.
- Dust Lasso gains Ask the model too, off unless you turn it on; the loop is judged on image statistics alone otherwise.
1.0.12 beta 11
November 1, 2026
- Camera-scan DNGs open and come back as DNGs (Lab). A raw negative from a camera scan opens as a positive and is repaired like any frame; Export writes a DNG with the repair carried back into the raw data, ready for Negative Lab Pro or Camera Raw, and the original is never written over.
- Detect and Repair run on the graphics card. On a PC with a DirectX 12 card, detection takes about a second where it took fifteen, and fills land as you work. PCs without one keep running on the processor.
- Settings ▸ Detect ▸ Graphics card turns it off, and shows what each model is running on.
- While a question is on screen, the menus wait for your answer.
1.0.12 beta 10
October 29, 2026
- Spot Tone now updates itself: new builds are offered when it opens, and Help ▸ Check for Updates looks now. Settings ▸ Updates turns off the automatic check.
- Ctrl+Z while heals run takes back the newest stroke or Dust Lasso loop that hasn’t healed yet.
- The filmstrip keeps up better while a roll opens.
- Help ▸ Release Notes Online opens this page.
1.0.12 beta 9
October 28, 2026
- Drag files from File Explorer into the filmstrip to open them.
- Spot Tone opens without a terminal window beside it.
- Open Spot Tone at the end of setup no longer runs the app as administrator, which blocked drag and drop.
- The “Open in Spot Tone” drag image no longer stays on the window after a drop.
- Open with on several files in File Explorer opens all of them, not only the first.
- Drag with the Zoom tool to zoom: right to zoom in, left to zoom out.
- Ctrl+1, Ctrl+=, and Ctrl+- zoom about the middle of the view.
- A Healing row under Repair shows heals as they run: the time, how many are waiting, and an × (or Esc) that cancels the ones not yet done.
- Heal (J) and the Dust Lasso work while heals run.
- Step to another frame during Detect: it finishes in the background and saves to its own frame.
- Drag a Tone value to adjust it, or click it to type one.
- Export asks about damaged saved repairs before it writes anything: Stop and Show Them, Export Originals, or Skip Them.
- A line under the Repair bar says what it is doing: Repairing, Re-healing long marks, Second pass, or Composing the repair.
- Exported files record the Spot Tone version and the detection model used.
- Contribute also sends Dust Lasso and Scratch corrections.
- Detect Dust and Apply Repair are no longer cut off with several frames selected.
- Save Preset’s name box opens at its button.
1.0.12 beta 8
October 27, 2026
- Fixed two crashes while brushing: a dab off the edge of the frame, and a stroke past an edge.
- JPEGs saved from Bridge or Lightroom open turned the right way.
- New detection models arrive on their own, as on the Mac. Settings ▸ Updates checks on demand.
- Crash reports are sent on their own the next time Spot Tone opens. Settings ▸ Updates turns them off.
- Contribute corrections, off unless you turn it on in Settings ▸ Contribute.
- Auto-Rotate, in the Image menu (Lab).
- Detect asks before detecting over film you have already worked on.
- Repair All asks about frames with no detection: Detect then Repair, Skip Undetected Images, or Cancel.
- Undo takes back Tone, rotation, and crop changes.
- The export button names what it writes: Export…, Export 3…, Overwrite All…, and so on.
- Help (F1) lists every key.
- The terms and other sheets fit small screens.
1.0.10 beta 7
October 26, 2026
- Open Scans in the empty window: click it, or double-click anywhere, to open.
- Files that have moved are listed when a session opens, with Locate… to find them and keep their work.
- A file that won’t open says why: missing, unreadable, or on a drive that isn’t connected.
1.0.10 beta 6
October 26, 2026
- Fixed a crash at launch on some AMD Ryzen PCs running Windows 11.
1.0.10 beta 5
October 26, 2026
- Icons show on Windows 10, where they were drawn as boxes.
1.0.10 beta 4
